Why does Financial Statement preparation still move to Excel from ERP?

If you are using TallyPrime or another ERP for accounting, ask yourself:

The books are in TallyPrime / ERP.
The Trial Balance is in TallyPrime / ERP.
So why does Financial Statement preparation often happen in Excel?

The usual process is:

TallyPrime/ERP → Export Trial Balance → Excel → Classification → Notes & Schedules → Reconciliation → Financial Statements

What if this workflow could stay inside TallyPrime?

That is the idea behind the Financial Statements for Non-Corporate Entities (FS–NCE) Add-on.

Prepare Financial Statements Directly in TallyPrime

The NCE FS Add-on provides a working environment for preparing:

  • Balance Sheet
  • Income Statement
  • Notes & Schedules
  • Comparative Financial Statements
  • Current / Non-Current classification
  • Trial Balance grouping and working

The Trial Balance becomes the working area for classifying ledgers into the appropriate NCE Financial Statement Groups. Bulk grouping and filtering tools are also available.

Map Once. Reuse.

Instead of repeatedly exporting and classifying data in Excel, the objective is to keep Financial Statement preparation closer to the books already maintained in TallyPrime.

What About Verification?

This is where the workflow becomes particularly useful.

Financial Statements are drill-down enabled:

Financial Statement → Notes / Schedules → Groups → Ledgers → Vouchers

You can move from a reported figure back to the underlying accounting entries for verification.

So the Financial Statement is not just an output — it can also become a starting point for reviewing the books.

Is Excel Still Required?

Excel can continue to be used wherever it adds value.

The question is simpler:

Do you need to export the Trial Balance to Excel just to prepare the Financial Statements?

The NCE FS Add-on provides an alternative.

Trial Balances can also be imported from Excel using a template when required.

The question is not whether you can prepare Financial Statements in Excel.

The question is:

Why export them from TallyPrime in the first place?
